I am humbly honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as President for the
NABMW San Antonio Chapter, as we continue to grow in exacting, inclusive, and
innovative directions.
To best understand our commitment to the African American Women who have
served and are currently serving, our role and mission as we move forward is to
tell “HERSTORY”
I am encouraged by the membership’s commitment to improving community.
partnerships in San Antonio and inspired by what the chapter can become in the
Empowering people yields more than just giving handouts, we must build sisterly
relationships and share our stories. If the challenges of the past have taught us
anything, it is that we are all “One Team”, in “One Fight” to make a difference and
let others know we are not forgotten. We must take care of each other and
recognize the achievements of those women who have fought before us like the
6888th Battalion who has given us a “seat at the table” in order for us to tell our story.
Strong chapters are active, not static. They grow and change to welcome new
members and adapt to new circumstances and opportunities. Therefore, together
we can take a deep breath, hold our heads up, put our shoulders back and look
everyone straight in the eye, and say, “I’m Here” and this is “My Story!”.
As we embark on this adventure, remember we are part of a team on a journey.
and always reminded that no matter where one goes, “Lest Not Forget” the fight,
the struggles and sacrifices that were made by the African American Women on
the road that lead us to where we are today.
