LASHOAN BRINKLEY-THOMPSON

LaShoan Brinkley-Thompson
Combat Veteran | Entrepreneur | Caregiver | Chef Extraordinaire

LaShoan Brinkley-Thompson is a proud U.S. Army combat veteran whose heart is as expansive as her service. A true embodiment of strength, compassion, and purpose, LaShoan served her country with honor and continues to serve her community with unwavering love and dedication. She is the creative force and passionate entrepreneur behind Shaon’s Enjoyable Cuisine, a culinary experience infused with soul, heritage, and flavor. Her dishes are more than just food; they are memories in the making comforting, delightful, and simply “to die for.”

Soft-spoken yet powerful, LaShoan is known for her grace, resilience, and generosity. She is the kind of woman who would give you the shirt off her back or the shoes from her feet her spirit deeply rooted in giving, healing, and lifting others up. Born in Dallas, Texas, LaShoan began her military journey in 1998 as a Reservist with A Co. 980th Combat Heavy Engineering. Fueled by a desire for connection, self-love, and the strength of sisterhood, she re-enlisted to active duty while deployed in 2004. Throughout her career, she served on two humanitarian tours and was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Her leadership and expertise were further demonstrated at the following duty stations:

  • Gulfport NAS – Instructor & Training      Management
  • Fort Benning (2 tours) – Construction Supervisor
  • Guantanamo Bay (2 tours) – Facilities Management

She retired from the Army as a Staff Sergeant (SSG), holding the MOS 21H Construction Engineering Supervisor with the esteemed “8 Identifier,” denoting her role as an instructor and mentor to others. After retirement, LaShoan settled in San Antonio, TX, where she worked at Lackland’s Security Hill until the COVID-19 pandemic shifted her path. Embracing a higher calling, she became the full-time caregiver to her beloved Marine veteran father (“Gunny Dad”) and her beautiful mother. With a degree in Business Management and FEMA certifications, LaShoan remains an active pillar of support in her community, always showing up where she’s needed most, driven by a purpose greater than herself.

LaShoan shares life with her husband of 11 years, Mr. Oneil Thompson. Together, they are the proud parents of a blended family of nine children. Her greatest joy comes from spending time with her grandchildren and nurturing the bonds she holds within her sisterhood groups rooted in strength, faith, and unwavering love.

She lives by her family’s guiding mantra that carried her through life’s storms: "It's a Glorious day; It's a Blessed day. Everything is going to be alright. Because I place the Devil beneath my feet." —Annie Lacey (“Great Grams”) and Georgia Gholston (“Grams”)

Through 3 a.m. phone calls, heartfelt prayers, and enduring wisdom, these two matriarchs offered LaShoan the strength to keep going her saving grace across every distance. From the battlefield to the kitchen and in every sacred space in between LaShoan Brinkley-Thompson is a living testament to strength, grace, and the power of giving. Her journey is not only one of service but a radiant celebration of life, sisterhood, and faith.
